HDR ain't going away no matter how many "real" photographers don't like it.....

Since I last posted. Blogs are like that. I started this just to take blogger for a testdrive. Anyway I think I'll keep this for the occasional photography rant.

Hello is their anybody out there?

What I find to be totally amazing is that no matter how things change everything still remains the same. I know that's a very trite statement. A total frickin yawner. While I totally embrace most the technological changes that have rained down upon us I find it amazing how the photographic art community is such a stick in the tecnogical mud. A few weeks ago I attended a print competition at a photo club and they had several judges there to ..well.. pass judgement on the entered prints. Everything went as expected and the judges did an admirable job of critiquing such a wind range of images. Then the inevitable HDR was displayed. The reigning arteest of the crew weighed in with something along the lines of "oh on of those HDRs, I never know where to look at on of those". I barely stifled an out burst of laughter. I have dealt with the photographic elite all of my life and I will bet you dollars to dektol that this very same guy one archly stated that digital wasn't real photography. These are the same guys that a few years later would be crowing about the glories of the raw format as though they invented it themselves. The bottom line here is HDR and that particular look is here to stay and the next crop of cameras will have that particular look onboard. Count on it.I wonder how long before artistic elite jump on board? Count on it.
